Do your civic duty. Remember to Register and Vote in the November 2022 Elections. If you can, help a friend, neighbor, co-worker, or acquaintance along the way. It’s time to play offense and work toward a return to sanity and normalcy. ____________________________________________

Full Fascism — MAGA Style
I know there has been much talk this past week about who is or isn’t a “Semi-Fascist” or a “Full Fascist.” If you missed it, I posted a long two-part diary just yesterday afternoon about Fascism in Nazi Germany. After reading my diary, determine for yourself if there are parallels to our current political situation.
— One Man Played for His Country. The Other, Hounded by the Gestapo, Played for His Life. (Part 1)
— One Man Played for His Country. The Other, Hounded by the Gestapo, Played for His Life. (Part 2)
Read carefully what I wrote about how one of the Nazi criminals behaved during the Nuremberg Trials once the trappings of power were removed.
Take away the displays of false bravado, the comfortable settings where leaders live under their delusions, and strip away the means of communication by which they routinely spout nonsensical statements. Subtract the hyper-nationalist displays of military power, and obsession with one’s feeling of superiority. Do away with the glorification of political violence, and state-sanctioned terror, and stop fantasizing about a golden age that never was. Refrain from banishing the disloyal from your political party and demonizing the opposition for real or imagined causes. When few followers are left to be misled, what else remains in the toolbox of Fascists? What one is left with are cowards like Hermann Goering still living in an alternate reality — even when confronted with irrefutable proof of their crimes. x The next time you see a Trumpist bleating and whining about being called a semi-fascist, show him this from the Holocaust Museum pic.twitter.com/3W8cel6M7V — Norman Ornstein (@NormOrnstein) August 30, 2022
Do You Still Have Questions?
x I produced my 2018 "Fascism in Europe" special as a patriotic duty, for a country that is a part of who I am.
My hope: that America would recognize fascism when it knocked at our door.

Time Has Come Today
A long time ago, Donald Trump crossed the line between normal and sleazy behavior. When he bullied employees, assaulted women, mocked disabled people, abused political foes, vilified minorities, avoided paying taxes, swindled banks, demonized immigrants, inspired racist groups, coddled white nationalists, denigrated allied countries, and used his presidency to benefit himself financially at the expense of his clueless supporters.
All that and much more made him the “Ugly American” for the rest of the world. An embarrassment as President for four years, and one who willfully neglected his constitutional duties.
No wonder he finds himself in such legal hot water — all of it his own reckless doing.
A decent society built on the rule of law cannot — and should not — tolerate such behavior. Such a person is unfit to hold any political office, let alone the highest one in the country. If his current legal troubles result in Trump being indicted, that action, somehow, would feel as if it was long overdue.
No one should get a pass in life, even if one served at one point in time as the President of the United States. The leaders of the Republican Party who reflexively defend Trump regardless of the facts, know that if Trump fades from the active political scene, their future hopes of regaining both the US Senate and US House of Representatives will diminish significantly. All the more reason for supporters of the Democratic Party to come out in large numbers and decisively win the November elections.
The time has come to hold this lowlife accountable for his past misdeeds. Let’s hope that in the coming weeks and months, the US Department of Justice will do its job and take care of Trump and his gang of criminals.
The sooner, the better.

Finally…
Sarah Palin, former part-time Governor of Alaska and 2008 GOP Vice Presidential Nominee, lost her bid to join the circus in Washington, DC. Upon hearing the news, Tina Fey went into a deep funk. No word yet as to when she’ll snap out of it.
