Climate Change and Migration, a Real Conundrum [1]

We have ice melting at the top of the world. We also have ice melting at the bottom of the world. We have glaciers in between the top and the bottom of the world melting. There are droughts in the Northern and Southern hemisphere, as well as major population centers such as Europe, Asia. We cannot ignore the flooding all over the world or the wildfires. And let us not forget the slow but steady sea level rise. We all pretty much agree that fossil fuels are destroying our civilization. Very rarely does the topic of migration come to the table. Where are the people going to move to live. Where will they find a place to grow food, where will they find a place where there is good potable water? Approximately nine billion people will be moving into half the space now available to humans. This is going to be a problem. Who is going to decide which four and a half billion is surplus?

Drought and the potential increase in the number of droughts worldwide due to climate change remains a concern for scientists. A recent study led by Stony Brook University researchers suggests that human migration due to droughts will increase by at least 200 percent as we move through the 21st century.
