Something has really changed as media fails to deplorablize Biden's semi-fascist comment [1]

Perhaps Biden’s semi-fascist comment represents a turning point in U.S. politics and the power of the media. Much of the media is throwing a hissy fit over Biden’s description of MAGA Republicans as semi-fascist. The media is becoming increasingly hysterical demanding we see this as a terrible gaffe similar to “deplorables” or Obama’s “Guns and God” comment. They want to force Biden to apologize, or at least explain, or at the very least pull back. What is interesting is that it is not taking hold. The Republicans and the media are coming off as shrieking harpies. Biden is shrugging them off. I mean the great benefit of electing somebody with no more damns to give is that they no longer can give a damn. But it does not seem to be breaking through in the way the Republicans and media want it to break through. Part of the reason is Trump of course. But part of the reason is that political media has become far more distributed. There are an increasing number of outlets capable of push back and setting context. People are going to fear Republican and media reaction less and less. We may not notice it because we are in the middle of it, and so many other things are happening, but this may be a watershed moment in U.S. politics.
