Remember “A Basket of Deplorables?” Within seconds after Hillary Clinton said it, Republicans were proudly owning it. Every right wing Twitter handle was suddenly “Deplorable MAGA” or “Deplorable Jim” or “Deplorable Alt-Right.” It didn’t matter that she was referring to the Nazis, KKK and other actually deplorable people and groups who made up a substantial part of the MAGA coalition. With the help of the concern-trolling mainstream media, “Deplorable” was instantly worse than the sum of “Mexican Rapists,” mocking the disabled, “bleeding all over” and every racist, sexist, ableist, nativist remark that emerged from the maw of tfg during and since 2016.
The concern trolls are out again in the wake of President Biden’s “Semi-Fascist” comment, most recently “liberal” Republican NH Governor John Sununu, who this morning “demanded” that Biden apologize:
