Not much new to report on the Covid-19 pandemic at the national level, with the US weekly caseload of new infections continuing a 5th week of decline (now nearly 45% less than its recent peak), hospitalizations down for the 4th week running (though only off by 15% from last month), and even the weekly death toll edging lower by 8% over the past 3 weeks. Florida though remains a significant outlier, recording its highest weekly death toll in over 5 months, even as its weekly caseload mirrors the overall national trend toward substantially lower numbers over the past 5 weeks — something that doesn’t seem to make much statistical sense at this point in the pandemic.
