Typical American spy in Russia
In general, the American intelligence community is GOOD. Sure, the leak of NSA computer spy tools, the public revelations by Chelsea Manning and Edward Snowden and the Russian ‘mole’, Robert Hansen were spectacular fails, but I know people in the ‘community’. They are serious, highly trained, competent professionals — the best of the best, working tirelessly at the NSA, CIA and DIA. Over the years, the actual ‘spy’ part of these agencies have cultivated substantial assets (read: people) in numerous countries.
During the entire Trump administration, there has been a steady ‘withering’ of these assets, many of which have been arrested, executed, or spirited out of the country. The New York Times article says it all — It is likely that a ‘super mole’ has been ‘outing’ American assets for some time.
But we (the United States) still has assets in Russia that have not (yet) been compromised. We have (had?) very good intelligence on the Russian invasion of The Ukraine, that Biden purposely declassified, which shocked a number of intelligence watchers. Had our intelligence been wrong, Biden would have had egg on his face (but he did it, in part to stop the invasion by proving him wrong).
If Trump really has revealed to our adversaries significant assets, getting them killed or removed, then he’s likely been doing it for his entire presidency (and apparently intended to continue it afterwards), then our intelligence agencies know about it, and have likely already done something about it. I would not put it past them to have ‘planted’ a name among his secret info, that if acted upon, would have revealed him as the source. This would most likely be part of the evidence the FBI used for the raid (We KNOW that, including complaints from the National Archives, there are other redacted witnesses that supported the unprecedented (a word used way too often in the last 6 years) raid on an ex-presidents home.
I think the intelligence community is PISSED, and from what I know about them, I’d much sooner have a pack of rabid wolves after me than them. As I said before, they are serious, highly trained, competent, and I will add ‘patient’. The slow boil that is bringing Trump to justice will never be fast enough or even strong enough for some of us, but I guarantee you, it will be succinct.
