Texas denier in chief Governor Greg Abbott has two word he cannot say.
Via Brandon Gage at AlterNet: Texas GOP governor refuses to acknowledge climate change while cities drown in '1-in-1,000 year' floods
Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott refused to acknowledge that climate change is driving the historic flooding that has inundated the biggest cities in his state over the last several days. "We constantly focus on the issues such as extreme weather and we want to, we want to be prepared for whatever type of weather may be coming our way," Abbott said at a press conference after reporters repeatedly asked him to say the words "climate change." Abbott's remarks came "a day after a “1-in-1,000-year” storm dumped up to 15 inches of rain in Dallas, triggering flash floods that submerged vehicles along a highway and left at least one person dead," Yahoo News noted.

Other things Abbott can’t explain:
Via María Méndez at the Texas Tribune:
Texas is facing its worst drought since 2011. Here’s what you need to know.
The drought will likely continue into the fall and winter.
Via Lindsey Carnett at San Antonio Report: Why has this summer been so dang hot? State climatologist explains summer heat wave
..There are three reasons this heat wave is hitting Central Texas particularly hard, said State Climatologist John Nielsen-Gammon: low moisture in the soil, weather patterns bringing in dry air from urban Mexico and climate change. ...And while summer heatwaves are typical in Texas, climate change is influencing their severity, Nielsen-Gammon said. As weather conditions become more severe due to climate change, drier and longer droughts are likely to become more prevalent, he added.
emphasis added
Those two little words — so hard for Republicans to say. Not only are they banning their use, they are attempting to punish any efforts to do something about them. It’s a fascinating pathology — the party that urges people to “choose life” is determined to pursue death on a planetary scale. Talk about extreme cancel culture...
From the AlterNet article, a video clip on Twitter of Abbott refusing to use the words “climate change”:

Now might be a good time to donate to Beto O’Rourke, a man who CAN say “climate change” — and promises to do something about it.
As governor, I will work tirelessly to ensure Texas remains the global energy leader for generations to come. I’ll ensure that we fix our failing power grid, expand the energy jobs we create in Texas, bring down Texans’ energy bills, and help lead the fight against climate change. I will add to our hundreds of thousands of oil and gas jobs by pursuing the Texas labor movement’s aggressive clean energy jobs plan, which aims to create 1.1 million high-paying jobs over the next 25 years by investing in geothermal power generation, hydrogen-fueled energy, offshore wind, solar generation, energy efficiency, and more.
“Vote like your life depends on it” is not an exaggeration these days. Especially if you live in Texas.
