YOUTUBE commentator David Doel has an excellent video highlighting the right’s hypocrisy in opposing any kind of student debt relief. He points out that the conservatives' criticism that debt relief is a subsidy for the wealthy is a crock given that the well-off can generally afford to pay college costs upfront and don’t take out loans. Doel details the public opposition to debt relief by Stephen Crowder and Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller.
But it turns out Stephen Crowder’s group, Louder with Crowder received $71,208 worth of PPP loans that were later forgiven by the federal government. Tucker Carlson’s The Daily Caller, Inc. received $410,355 in PPP loans later forgiven by the feds. Other right-leaning outfits such as Americans for Tax Reform and the Ayn Rand Institute received hundreds of thousands of dollars in PPP loans forgiven by the federal government ($290,800 and $713,100 respectively). With the likely announcement by the Biden Administration of $10,000 in student debt forgiveness in the very near future, the public should be made aware of the right’s hypocrisy. I personally believe that Biden’s likely proposal is too stingy but I don’t think much of the general public is aware of the massive loan forgiveness and other cushy treatment the wealthy and well-connected receive and would like to deny to everyone else
