Careful, as it might come back to bite you in the...
Mike Luckovich of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is one of the best editorial cartoonists in the country. Here’s what he and fellow political cartoonist Adam Zyglis of the Buffalo News had to say recently in the Washington Post (subscription required) about the hypocrisy of Trump supporters following the FBI search of Mar-a-Lago last week.
The rule of law? Forget it. That arcane concept is for Democratic political misdeeds.

You could see the cognitive dissonance in real time, as members of the GOP were hypocritically attacking the FBI,” Zyglis says. “The political reaction reaffirmed that the GOP majority believes loyalty trumps patriotism and the rule of law.”
What’s good for the goose…
Needed badly : a dose of logic, rationality, and a sense of fair play to drum some common sense into these buffoons, morons, and idiots. If not possible, then an overwhelming Democratic turnout in the 2022 Midterm Elections, one that consigns MAGA-ism to the ash heap of history.
The sooner, the better.
“Luv ya, Blue?”
Nah, that rallying cry was for the loyal Houston Oilers football team fans way back in the days of Earl Campbell, Billy “White Shoes” Johnson, Dan Pastorini, Robert Brazile, Bum Phillips, Kenny Burroughs, Curley Culp, Elvin Bethea, et al.
Today, 2 + 2 = 5, as George Orwell might have said. Up is down, down is up, real is fake, fake is real, you get the idea. It is, as Charles Dickens wrote a long time ago, “the best of times, the worst of times.”
Victimization
Trump is always the victim. He can do no wrong and can only be betrayed by followers. As the walls of justice are closing in on him, the complaints are getting louder and more insane — by the minute! Trump, never a fan of the rule of law, needs a primer on how it actually works.
x Look, Donald, the Fourth Amendment says that search "Warrants shall issue ... upon probable cause."
It's not your friend.

The closer we get to the truth about Trump’s illegalities, the more absurd the reasons put forth by Trump and his followers for the FBI’s search. It just isn’t making any sense.

Confronting MAGA-ism
Writing in the Portland Press Herald, Elwood Watson strongly suggested that the reaction from MAGA supporters was entirely predictable. It was par for the course for this crowd. It’s what they routinely do.
Source : Portland Press Herald and John Cole, Cartoonist. The search, authorized by Attorney General Merrick Garland, sent the right-wing echo chamber into overdrive. While it is hardly news that the far-right routinely engages in bombastic, incendiary rhetoric, many outlets — along with a number of their more high-profile personalities — suggested, encouraged and outright advocated violence… What we have seen over the past week is that the current Republican Party is bereft of any sense of responsibility. The agenda for their most extreme elements is to employ rhetoric that is alarming, abrasive, hyperbolic and ominous, no matter how irresponsible or dangerous. The more outlandish they can appear to their followers, the better. Ethics, civility, decency, facts, principles and morality can all be damned. Such reductive values certainly do not bode well for the future of our increasingly fragile democracy.
Instead of being intimidated by these folks — with almost no chance of appealing to their good senses and expecting rational behavior in return — it is time to defeat them at the polls so as to shut them up once and for all.
Not much more complicated than that. End of story.
Remember to take the diary poll. Thanks.
