A week away from the beginning of college football season…
This weekend, I considered going to a big family reunion that’s being held outdoors in a public park.
Not that I don’t love my family and that I don’t want to see them, of course...but I have decided not to go.
While COVID-19 isn’t the threat that it has been for the past couple of years, the fact is that it is still being spread. And there will be at least 100 people at this event in Detroit.
I am mindful of the fact that I do go around crowds of even some unmasked people to an extent now; it’s the summer time and I am prone to catch cabin fever quite easily so...I do venture out from time to time and take my chances.
I caught a case of asymptomatic COVID-19 earlier this year. Considering that the fact that I am diabetic, I was lucky that it was an asymptomatic case. Next time I might not be so lucky.
I am not attending Netroots Nation this weekend for pretty much the same reason. Too many people (while there is also the money factor, I could have planned around that).
I mean, I have cabin fever as much as anyone else who has tried to take care of themselves in the midst of a pandemic.
Small crowds (10-30 people) only, please...well, unless I get tickets to go see a game at the Big House, of course.
