Kos Diabetes Group: I'm off to visit family [1]

Hello! I am out of town this week visiting (diabetic) family in Ohio in an area so rural there is no internet to be had.

I will be trying my best while I’m gone to eat healthily and keep my numbers in the good range. This is difficult because even though my mom and sister are also diabetic they just don’t seem to care about watching what they eat. I’ve seen them demolish a whole basket of rolls while dining out at a restaurant and they have no problems with having desserts that are not carb friendly.

My sister’s camper. It’s on a lake with two docks. No cell reception and no internet.

There was a little news this week on the diabetic front. For those on Medicare, Congress passed a $35 insulin price cap as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. This cap will take effect beginning in 2023. The cap for those on private insurance was stripped out, but I have faith that the Democrats will try to get it in a later bill for the rest of us.

I don’t have time for much else. I have to pay my bills, finish my laundry and get mostly packed so I’ll be ready to load up the van tomorrow and head down the highway.

I’ll be thinking of you on Friday as I sit on the porch (or maybe the dock) sipping a cool (zero calorie) drink. I’ll check in to see the comments when I return on Sunday evening.
