Another big fire has developed about 10 miles south of the Elmo fire. They’re pretty sure it was caused by an electric fence. Don’t let electric fences play with matches, either!
However, Irvine Flats and Garcon Gulch roads going up to Windy Gap are closed to through traffic.

Like that one, it started in grasslands and ran into the trees. It’s mostly reservation land- “US in Trust” is the registered owner. See that drainage in the lower right corner?

At first, I thought the fire was there and started looking at who owned the property. Turns out there is a Buddhist retreat that owns the land on both sides of the road that runs up that gulch to a low mountain pass. The road ends in Polson. And the operator of that retreat is a cousin of the Gov. of Illinois.
