Dear PHRMA, your propaganda is a day late and a dollar short [1]

So, now that I am unemployed and suffering from post-COVID syndrome, I have had a lot of time, well, sitting on my ass trying not to get dizzy. During most of that time, I have MSNBC on. I have noticed some insidious, downright shadytree ads running during the daytime hours, brought to you by PHRMA, a shadowy group of, I assume, drug companies running around trying to convince people that somehow “government price setting” will kill research into life-saving medication.

Here is but a sampling of their disgusting tactics:

First of all, you’re too fucking late. The IRA has passed. Dark Brandon has risen, and he is sick of this malarkey. “Government price setting” is happening, and you assholes can whine and cry and bitch all you want about it. Sorry pharma bros can no longer treat insulin like a damned commodity, and not like a lifesaving drug. Sorry that you can no longer charge medicare pretty much anything you want for high dollar drugs. My heart is fucking breaking for you, rich ass pharma bros. Perhaps you will have to sell one of your mega-yachts? What a hard life.

Secondly, I am calling absolute bullshit on this somehow killing research into lifesaving drugs. These companies will go where the research dollars take them, regardless of whether or not medicare can negotiate drug prices. If there is millions of dollars in grant money to research a treatment for a certain disease, that is where pharmaceutical companies will go. I doubt, very much, that capping the price of insulin at 35 dollars per copay, or allowing medicare to negotiate with you when your charging a buttload of money for someone to live will affect medication research at all. So honestly, this doesn’t even begin to pass the sniff test.

But I gotta say, I love Joe Biden for making these rich assholes sweat. I was getting so tired of hearing stories about how drug manufacturers are gambling with people’s lives so they could make a buck. I love watching them squirm, gnash their teeth, and spend millions in ad spots trying to fight something that has already passed.

Thats right MSNBC, take their money. Bankrupt those bastards. Maybe you can start spiking your advertisement rates for groups like PHRMA and those awful DTC pharmaceutical advertisements, give them a bit of their own medicine.

Anyway, thanks for the schadenfreude President Biden!
