Poll: Mandela Barnes Leading Sen. Ron Johnson in Wisconsin by 7 Points [1]

A poll released today by Marquette Law School shows Democrat Mandela Barnes defeating incumbent Republican Ron Johnson 51% to 44%. In the same poll in June, Barnes led 46% to 44%.
Johnson was first elected to the US Senate in 2010. Barnes is the current LT. Gov. In 2016, Johnson was re-elected 50.2% to 46.8%.
law.marquette.edu/… MILWAUKEE – A new Marquette Law School Poll survey of Wisconsin finds a close race for governor and Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes with a 7-percentage-point lead in the race for U.S. Senate. In the governor’s race, 45% support Democratic incumbent Gov. Tony Evers and 43% favor Republican Tim Michels. The independent candidate, Joan Beglinger, is chosen by 7%, with 3% saying they don’t know and 2% who declined to answer. These responses include those who are undecided but who say they lean toward supporting a candidate. In June, 48% supported Evers and 41% favored Michels.

The 538 website has moved its model to a 63% chance the Democrats will win the US Senate and a 22% chance they will control the US House. In their “lite” model that only looks at polling, Democrats win 81% of the time in the Senate and 35% in the House. Both models have been moving in the Democratic direction.
