Once again I have had the lesson reinforced, never be afraid of a song you haven’t heard before.

It really is amazing. We have had all the time on our hands the last two years to find new stuff and it happens and goes unnoticed right under our nose. Damned You Tube algorithms. It knows I’ve been loving these Pickathon videos.

This is a new super group. Anaïs Mitchell has a Grammy and Tony’s for her work on Hadestown. Josh Kaufman has worked with everybody from Bob Weir to Taylor Swift. Eric D. Johnson founded the Fruit Bats and has played with The Shins. Their first album is a collection of folk songs that seem to be older than all of us put together.

Pay no attention that they all look like they were pulled out of a homeless shelter and crammed together in a studio. I look that way all the time, so I can tell they care about more important things.

Since this might be posted on a Saturday morning, I thought they sounded perfect for a mellow morning. So I hope everyone has the same expectations. Nothing. Nothing but a peaceful, unrushed morning that reminds you that life can be sweet. And we should be thankful that things could always be worse.
