Good morning, Newdists! I got back yesterday.
How the heck are you! I’ve missed you! I feel like I’ve been gone for a long time.
It feels like I have not seen any of you in many months… but it’s only been one month. 😄
I’m chalking that up to the warped nature of time as it’s unfolding at this juncture in our lives, all over the world…
What a week this has been, no?
Hell yes.
I’m writing this on the 12th of August, the ghastly 5th year anniversary of the freaks, haters and gobshites marching on C’ville. Heather Heyer would have been 37 this year. The man that drove the car and killed her, is 25 this year. Two police officers died trying to get to C’ville to help. Many others were injured when that car ran into the crowd and backed up and out. So many lives lost and damaged because some people’s fears. Ressentiment is a powerful force in history; albeit not often acknowledged.
I spent a lot of time hanging out with my mom while sibling and family were travelling about. It was good. She’s mellowed and we had some nice talks. I’m sad to see her starting to dwindle. And I feel bad about my sibling and his family having to take that on for most of the year. The next generation though is awesome. They’re quite stalwart, really. I hope to see her again in December.
