Pic I Took in Peggy’s Cove - Nova Scotia

Quick and dirty short diary of items of interest. New York Times, Maggie Haberman, Ben Protess, and Glenn Thrush have a story out now on the Search Warrant, Search, Subpoena, and how it came about. Significantly, in the fourth paragraph we have this little nugget (my bolding).

Two people briefed on the classified documents that investigators believe remained at Mar-a-Lago indicated that they were so sensitive in nature, and related to national security, that the Justice Department had to act.

If you hadn’t heard this already video surveillance footage of the club that could indicate who was coming in and out of the storage area, was subpoenaed and provided to investigators. Not clear whether this was one of the reasons concerns were heightened about who may have had access to these materials.

There are other little tidbits about who still worked at Mar-a-Lago and former WH employees familiar with how Chump stored documents and moved them around the White House and who still worked for him. Me thinks NYT may be throwing some helpers under the bus in an already paranoid environment but that’s another disaster that the right wing will be sure to take advantage of by going after these individuals.

Federal officials came to believe that Mr. Trump had not relinquished all the material that left the White House with him at the end of his term, according to three people familiar with the investigation.

Next is an interesting point because it’s somewhat contradictory. If it was broad yet specific to certain areas. I think it’s one or the other: broad, specific or narrow.

The search warrant was broad, allowing the agents to investigate all areas of the club where classified materials might have been stored. They went through the basement, Mr. Trump’s office and at least part of his residence at the club.

I’m pushing fair use boundaries. One last usage. The FBI had left a two page manifest of what was taken but some boxes were basically empty except for a few sealed envelopes.

…If the manifest is made public, it is likely to be redacted to shield any classified material. But the inventory provided to Mr. Trump’s team does reference an array of sensitive material, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. For example, it alludes to miscellaneous confidential documents as well some labeled “top secret.”

There again, implied National Security. Why did he have them and what did he plan to do with them? Final point. How hard would it have been to break into a single room if you were a spy with lock picking tools? The place is closed. Some Secret Service security but one can wonder.
