FARESPITHE THOUGHTS EXTRA ON A SEARCH WARRANT AND A CLIMATE CRISIS BILL
(FARESPITHE stands for faith, religion, spirituality, theology: “fare” like fair; “spithe” like with)
For what I believe to be the strong majority of Americans believing in the rule of law and authentic justice, the news of the search warrant allowing the FBI to search the home of the former guy (tfg) for materials, apparently including highly classified and sensitive documents which he illegally took from the White House, is tremendously more than just, “well, it’s so long overdue, and why did it take so damn long”! It suggests that it is thought a crime has already been committed, or was about to be committed, and to do this against a former president is as exceedingly a major action as has ever happened against a former president!
However—and this is a hugely big HOWEVER—will this mean anything toward bringing tfg to the authentic accountability of justice the majority of Americans know needs to happen and should happen if we are to continue as a nation of laws, not a nation run amuck by a horrifically nasty, ugly, selfish, self-serving greed based on one person’s whims and attempts to rule as if a dictator or king rather than an authentic president?
Does this search warrant yield enough evidence to lead to actual charges of crimes that can then lead to an actual conviction and jail? Or will it be simply another nothing burger of attempts to bring this person so many of us believe and think is a criminal which accomplishes no justice whatsoever? We do not now know and have no real idea of when we will know. As I’ve said many times, I will believe it only if and when he is actually convicted and in jail. For then and only then will justice in regards to him, and for us all, have been accomplished.
The Inflation Reduction Act passed on Sunday may truly be as significant as any legislation passed in our lifetime on actual climate crisis limitation and reduction. Some are even suggesting that the Democrats—because it did pass without even one Republican vote—may have helped save the planet. That is likely hyperbolic overstatement, though it reflects the hope that finally the USA has moved the possibility of limiting climate crisis in a way that will help lead the world toward bigger and better actions than it has so far even considered let alone tried to accomplish. That is no small thing—because it is actually a very big thing! It may not lead to actually saving the planet, but it is at least an exceptionally good start according to authentic climate scientists, who are the ones whose insight and wisdom are worthy of believing.
