For a closeup view of the screaming process, see #MAGAMeltDown on Twitter. It was trending for a while yesterday.
Meanwhile, a screaming palate cleanser.
Whatever you and a majority of voters think this country needs, after this excellent labor shortage and the gun and chip and burn pit and inflation bills, Nancy Pelosi and Bernie Sanders and many more are on it. And many, notably including Bernie Sanders, have thought long and hard about what to propose next. With Schumer’s approval, Bernie got to lay down some familiar markers for the future during the IRA Vote-a-Rama, and Rev. Sen. Warnock added another.

After 50 years of glorious music, and about the same time battling three cancers, and fighting the good fight for cancer cures, ONJ died three days ago. I wanted to add this to whatever else you might have heard.

In 1925, Born and Werner Heisenberg formulated the matrix mechanics representation of quantum mechanics. The following year, he formulated the now-standard interpretation of the probability density function for ψ*ψ in the Schrödinger equation, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1954.
And a mentsh. We can use more like him in these troubled times.
John Bolton, Mike Pompeo Assassination Plot
Source: Iranian plot had $1M Pompeo bounty
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was told by the Justice Department that he was a second target of a plot, revealed Wednesday, by an Iranian operative to murder former Trump administration national security adviser John Bolton. DOJ on Wednesday unsealed charges against Shahram Poursafi, a member of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, with use of interstate commerce facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire.
Poursafi is a member of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
What Have the Dems Done for Everybody Lately?
We have had wonderful news about our achievements, including Zero Dark Brandon’s, all week, and especially yesterday. I thank all of our authors, and all of our commenters who added items.
President Biden got to sign the bill approving NATO membership for Sweden and Finland recently (along with the CHIPS bill). That leaves approvals not yet provided from the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and Turkey.
Yesterday Biden signed the PACTS Act on helping veterans exposed to burn pits. He will sign the IRA ASAP, possibly over the weekend, since the House is scheduled to vote on it this morning. The MSM—and even Fox—have admitted that he had a good week, and maybe, just maybe his approval ratings will go up.

I remind you again that approval polling is 110% bogus, lumping together those who consider Biden to be a Socialist race traitor who is going far too far on everything, and those who consider that he doesn’t go nearly too far enough.
x The early verdicts have arrived: Investors are confident the Democrats' climate deal will translate into expanded real-world deployment of low-carbon energy.

TFG will try for an appeal, of course.

Ukraine It has become clear that nobody can keep up with Ukraine’s battlefield successes, either. Certainly not Vlad the Imploder. Was this previously unknown long-range Ukrainian missiles? Drones sneaking deep into Crimea? Ukrainian special force commandos? Whatever it was, Ukraine was not bragging about it for a while, leaving the Russkies to puzzle it out for themselves. Their public excuse is that yet another suicidally incompetent soldier was smoking on duty among all of the live ammo. Last night (that is, during the day in Ukraine) they officially claimed that it was their Special Forces. That doesn’t mean for sure that it was. Maybe it’s one of those “irritate your choleric-tempered enemies” sallies recommended by Sunzi/Sun Tzu. Hunter, DK staff: Ukraine update: Videos show extraordinary damage to Russian airbase in Crimea The biggest story on the front lines today—or rather, a very long distance behind them—continues to be the successful Ukrainian strike on the Novofedorivka airfield in Russian-held Crimea. The Ukrainian something, over 200 kilometers from the nearest Ukrainian positions, achieved two very spectacular booms in two different locations. Initial reports asserted that two distinct munitions dumps had gone up. Plus a line of fighter planes parked together, seen in before and after satellite photos. x BREAKING: The EU embargo on Russian coal has completely taken effect — Samuel Ramani (@SamRamani2) August 10, 2022
Animals! Science! Weirdness!
x #NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft returned images of a geological phenomenon observed for the first time in 2019, pebbles were flying off the surface of the #asteroid Bennu. @RomanMeitav elaborates:
https://t.co/kgWWtdmMGJ — The Jerusalem Post (@Jerusalem_Post) August 11, 2022
The asteroid underwent a high-speed collision, and the area of impact got deformed. That deformed rock eventually broke apart due to the huge temperature differences the asteroid experiences when it rotates, since the side facing the sun is more than 150C warmer than the side facing away.
The next question is whether such bits breaking off can get enough energy from the splitting process to reach escape velocity, which is very low on Bennu.
