Relishing the news, with a side of peaches [1]

August is giving us some tastes of success:

FBI conducting search (or raid, or whatever you want to call it) at Mar-a-Lago

Scott Perry’s phone seized

Alex Jones’ texts obtained by the Jan. 6th Committee (hopefully more will become public, too, although there’s already been need for brain bleach)

The Inflation Reduction Act passing the Senate (yes, it’s imperfect, but I’ll take it!)

TFG invoking the 5th Amendment in the civil investigation around the T Organization misleading lenders, insurers, tax authorities (makes his guilt obvious!)

Appeals court saying the House Ways and Means Committee can get TFG’s tax returns from the IRS (there’ll be an appeal, but it’s still a win!)

We needed the good news. I’d gotten so used to bitter news, and worrying, that this spate of wins is making me giddy, like a fructose rush.

As a reader of Daily Kos, you already know what’s going on, and you don’t need me to rehash it. But it’s kinda satisfying to, huh? I’m finding myself skimming back through articles I already read, like re-listening to music I enjoy.

Being August, the news comes with a side of peaches. My household doesn’t have a whole lot of luck buying peaches, so we get small batches. One batch this year was mealy (fine when frozen for smoothies, at least). Another turned from unripe to moldy with seemingly no in-between state. Another was fairly flavorless. But the most recent batch… Wow! I’ll skip describing them, since perfect peaches are simply that.

What are you enjoying this August? You are welcome to rehash. Or to give me tips on picking peaches.
