New vaccine for Lyme
Researchers are seeking thousands of volunteers in the U.S. and Europe to test the first potential vaccine against Lyme disease in 20 years -- in hopes of better fighting the tick-borne threat.
Do you live in an area with lots of ticks? Do lots of hiking? Then Pfizer would like to talk to you about volunteering for a new vaccine against 6 different strains of Lyme disease. More details are at AP Article on Vaccine . But for me this brought back memories, I have chronic fatigue, and one of the first things they do is test you for Lyme disease, because its nasty symptoms are the same as chronic fatigue, and unlike MFS they can treat Lyme sometimes. This is not a condition that I would wish on anyone.
Unfortunately, the article reminds folks that the ticks also carry other nasty diseases besides Lyme, so this is not an invite to go out and get yourself bit. Personally, after I heard of Alpha-gal syndrome (caused by tick bites) which makes a person allergic to meat Ticks are on my list of least liked bugs. But hey if they can stop Lyme disease perhaps they go after the other nasty diseases in a tick bite.
