I’ll keep this short and simple. There is no practical way to allow parts of the US to secede peacefully.
The primary reason is that the people who are busy trying to take over the country won’t ever be satisfied with just parts of it; they already see the rest of us as easy pickings, and so if we invite them to leave, they’ll just come back in force. With the backing of the ‘real’ US federal government and military, or so they’ll think of it. And if you think they won’t take control of as much of the federal infrastructure as they can get their hands on, you didn’t pay attention to the Civil War part of history class.
The other major reason is geographical. We are talking about land borders that are literally thousands of miles long, even if you draw them based on the current state borders (which are effectively impossible to defend). And that ignores the practical reality of how there are many red counties in blue states, while there are far less blue counties in red states.
Secession is not even worth discussing as a hypothetical exercise, never mind seriously debating.
