More butterflies, less lanternflies
The spotted lanternfly is an invasive pest. Invasives often crush native ecosystems when there is nothing that can control their population growth and they out-compete native species.
It turns out that milkweed does kill the spotted lanternfly, as well documented in this article. There are already great reasons to plant milkweed in your garden and in public places, chiefly that Monarch butterflies are dependent on it.
Share the news and plant some milkweed! This really lifted my spirits.
