A Good Guy With a Gun Incident Actually Happened [1]

Well, at least to the conservatives flailing this story. They are peddling this incident as their latest justification for MORE guns. I hadn’t heard a word about this incident on Daily Kos or MSNBC (although I generally only watch Chris Hayes and Rachael when she’s on — Monday). And it’s not a giant story. But two of my co-workers (strong Repubs, though not quite MAGAs) were talking about the incident with a sense of “awe”, about how this 22 year old kid had calmly drawn his pistol and killed a 20 year old kid, who had emerged from a bathroom with weapons and fatally shot 3 people and wounded 2 more, before the 22 year old fired 10 shots (in a mall, mind you), striking the 20 year old and killing him.
In the aftermath, a pile of law enforcement, politicians, and commentators decided to make the good guy with a gun a hero of the cause, but it appears (and to his credit) that the good guy doesn’t want to be Kyle Rittenhouse. I’ll listen to Hannity coming home from work, have Washington Post subscription, read a lot of articles here, generally consider myself to be — informed.
But until my buddies mentioned it — I didn’t know it happened. I had to Google it and it was 3 weeks ago!
Of course, this good guy stuff is absurd, and if the Police Chief is praising you for shooting 10 times in a mall, and calling him a hero??? Like this 1 good incident (define any good in this situation) justifies all the guns. And even in this “good” incident 3 people died!
This is warped.
