Welcome to the Street Prophets Coffee Hour.
Sometimes, maybe most times, I have something to say. Something I believe is important or at least meaningful enough to go to the effort of setting it down in words. The more important the message, the more time I tend to take with it.
Today is not one of those times.
In truth, I do have a lot on my mind right now. But have yet to find clarity about any of it. I learned a long time ago to not even try to force clarity; it comes when it comes. Eventually I expect to be able to talk about at least some of it in a way that makes sense. In the meantime, I offer you two photos recently taken by my son and daughter. I think they're amazing. I hope you will, too.
My son captured this image of a tiny, perfect baby mantis. That's his thumb you see, and gives a good idea just how little that critter is.
On Friday evening Joe left to spend the next two weeks, possibly longer, working in my hometown of San Diego. It's a marvelous opportunity for him. I'm glad I encouraged him to take it. He's only been gone a few days. And I miss him something awful.
My daughter took this dramatic picture of a heavy storm we recently had, just at sunset.
My daughter Paula has a strong eye for beauty and a gift for capturing arresting images. She's intelligent and funny and my favorite woman in all the world.
Photos like these are enough to make me reconsider my aversion to cellphones. I'd probably still very seldom actually use the phone to make phone calls. But the camera...!
Thank you for reading this. This is an open thread, all topics are welcome.
