Last week it looked like California was finally poised to displace Florida from atop the weekly death toll rankings. But this week California fell far short as DeSantistan ended up recording more new Covid deaths than California and Texas combined — extending their dominance streak to 6 weeks running now. At the national level, it now looks like new cases, hospitalizations, and deaths may all be starting to plateau, so at least things don’t seem to be getting appreciably worse at this point, though we’re still seeing nearly 1 million new cases and more than 3000 new deaths each week.

Meanwhile, Canadian stats continue to be in disarray, with nothing new at the national level reaching worldometers for nearly two weeks now.
