It’s hot here. Not as bad as it got last summer — I’ve only spent one day in wet t-shirts so far — but it is hot.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care! IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Einstein predicted gravitational waves in 1916. They were detected in 2015. There have been amazing things come to light since.
How eugenics shaped statistics.
Real landscapes of the great flood myths.
How Native Americans outlasted the Spanish missions. They kept their cultures alive in spite of Catholic efforts over more than 60 years.
How to plan a cross-country road trip.
Sumatran tiger cubs born a few weeks back at the London Zoo.
Scientists are using loggerhead and olive ridley sea turtles to gather data about ocean conditions and tropical cyclones.
A rumor about New Orleans history is true. They’ve found footage of an 1898 Mardi Gras parade.

The replacement pair of pants arrived on Monday. I promptly unsubscribed from the company’s emails. I may like their pants, but I don’t need everything they’ve ever sold in the history of online shopping.
There is a roughly 8-block route I can walk in my immediate neighborhood without having to cross anything other than driveways. I have been doing that each morning since last weekend. I’m doing much better. The hiking poles have been a great help; it won’t be too much longer before I will be going farther again. I doubt I will be trying for several miles till next summer; but I will be going farther.
My grandson spent most of Thursday morning with me. My granddaughter went out with a friend, and he’s not old enough yet to legally spend several hours by himself. He didn’t actually mind all that much — he got $5 for taking my trash and recycling out for me, and he had his tablet and his sketchbook with him besides. Yes, I did go out for a walk while he was here — it took about 40 minutes, including the time I spent taking to one of my neighbors.
One of my favorite authors has a book being released on the 5th. She self-publishes. I will probably have it on either the 3rd or the 4th, since she sends me a link as soon as everything is set for the Kindle version — she knows I’m going to read and comment fairly thoroughly.
Sometimes I forget about needing the tags before the system allows you to set up publishing to a group. It gets a bit huffy about it.

Love you guys!
