Well...it’s about an hour before deadline so I’d better get to writing, I guess.

Today was almost a perfect day, weather-wise, here in Chicago. There was the occasional cloud cover but it was mostly sunny with the temperature neither too high or too low.

Thank goodness I had no reason to go downtown because this is Lollapalooza weekend and I have been caught on the train when the music festival let’s out for the night. That is about as fun as Cubs fans pouring on the el after a game in Wrigley Field.

And don’t let your el stop be Sheridan or Belmont, the stops north and south, respectively, of Wrigley.

But now...I’m complaining, right?

I promised myself not to do that for any reason.

So after I write this, I’ll do a few chores around the house, begin prepping my Sunday assignment (APR) and do some reading.

Even though I remain single, I simply don’t feel like hitting the streets for whatever reason most weekend nights.

The older I get, the more I like nice quiet nights at home. It’s not that I can’t go out and, in fact, sometimes I do but it’s really not...important.

And, nowadays, maybe even a little...dangerous?

Now something I haven’t done much of at all is go to the number of museums in the Chicago area; it’s been awhile since I’ve been to the Art Institute or the Museum of Science and Industry.

I have been among other people and have eaten out in restaurants, I have a double booster (and I’m looking forward to a third booster, hopefully, in September.

Besides, I would go to the museum by myself. Those are a couple of trips I should plan before the weather starts to turn cold.

I’m trying, for today, to more or less keep my mind off the news and, for the most part, I’ve been unsuccessful but I have been doing some thinking about the nation’s media organizations; thoughts which are not fully formulated yet.

But basically I’m hate-reading and hate-watching The New York Times, The Washington Post, MSNBC, and the like.

I can discern the good from the bad, for the most part (or what I consider the “good’ and “bad”).

But there is such a distrust the MSM nowadays that people are taking pride in “doing their own research” and coming up with conclusions and recommending a course of action for themselves.

Doing the research, it seems to me, is supposed to be part of the media’s job so that people who either can’t or don’t have the time to read, say, scientific journals or Congressional transcripts understand what is going on

Report in a manner as clear, concise, and understandable to the American general audience as you can.

And I see far too little of that. To all of our detriment.

It’s showtime!

Comments below the fold.
