Well, this is it. The last show of July.

You’d think, from the way I’ve been going on about it all week, that I was somehow peculiarly attached to the month of July.

But really, I’ve just been up really late at night a lot this week, and I’m too tired to think of something new to joke about for the morning posts.

That’s the deep, dark secret of the last-week-of-July fixation.

August, of course, is traditionally a slow month in Washington. So maybe I just don’t want to face that.

Or maybe it’s that August is the Sunday of months, and I still have back-to-school syndrome.

Ah, the fading light of summer!

It’s a Friday that feels like a September!
