So the breaking news is that Senator Schumer and Senator Manchin announced a bill to “increase corporate taxes, reduce the national debt, invest in energy technologies and lower the cost of prescription drugs.”
Wow. Joe the oil and coal man on board with legislation that at least attempts to deal with climate change. Has Bos taurus finally mastered the Bernoulli's Principle.?
But the most shocking thing is how it happen. From David Dyan’s American Prospect:
The reveal was made a few hours after the Senate cleared the CHIPS and Science Act, a bill that...Mitch McConnell had threatened...something highly cherished by Schumer, if Democrats persisted with a party-line bill that raised taxes and boosted clean energy. When Manchin walked away from negotiations with Schumer just two weeks ago...McConnell let his guard down and allowed a vote on CHIPS...Schumer and Manchin waited until that cleared the Senate before announcing a reconciliation deal with taxes and climate back in.
Charles Ellis Schumer is now going full Machiavellian? An old school gentlemen politician who was derided by the National Review as the Democrats Problem. And Moscow Mitch (who held up a Supreme Court seat for a year and then rammed another one through with less then a month before the 2020 elections) is p*ssed off that Majority Leader Schumar is playing by his rules. Cry me a fraking river. Again Dyan:
If you told me a cosmic ray hit Washington and flipped everyone’s brains, giving Schumer the Machiavellian cunning of a Republican and giving McConnell the guileless approach of a Democrat, that might be a more plausible explanation for this display than the truth.
Like the spoiled selfish children that they are the Republican bast*rds killed a bi-partisan Veterans bill that would help survivors of burn bits suffering from cancer in an act of legislative revenge (while denying that was the reason the pukes voted against it).
