I thought the Maddow & Slotkin "Badasses" paean to the military-industrial complex last evening was bad. But at 3:30 AM this morning after re-reading Beckett’s "Waiting for Godot" ( and marveling again at Lucky's soliloquy ) was struck by the similarities in the 11th Hour segments with the National Economic Council Director, Brian Deese, and, sadly ( despite the title of his new book - The Big Lie: Election Chaos, Political Opportunism, and the State of American Politics After 2020 ), Jonathan Lemire.
Can you imagine Stephanie Ruhle ensconced with a Bowler Hat as Pozzo leading those two ( also with Bowler hats on ) dancing through the ropes ( nets ? ) of their weighty subjects?
The "last word" ( to borrow a phrase from Lawrence O'Donnell ) though was the return of Joni Mitchell to the Newport Folk Festival this weekend after a 50 year absence.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian hearses continue to drive by on Rockford Road here in the Twin Cities area.
"It's life's illusions I recall . . . I really don't know life at all."
