Maternal governance is our best hope [1]

Too many Republicans turned away from the January 6 hearings. It is obvious that they do so because they are so deeply embedded into the blind allegiance to herr Drumpf that they choose not to acknowledge facts that prove they have been wrong all this time.

It’s frustrating. There are good people who have fallen into this trap. People who should know better. People who live normal, reasoned lives outside of this confounding willingness to sacrifice our democracy rather than work to extract themselves from the abyss.

Liz Cheney hit the nail on the head about the courage of women. I am a white, male, boomer who is fully aware of the unique privilege afforded to my demographic. I am also completely in agreement with those who say old, white men have screwed things up and it is past time that we pass the gavel to women to see what they can do. It can’t be any worse. I expect it will be much better.

As I watched the hearings my opinion of old, white male Mike Pence did not recover as much as some people are alluding to. Yes, he defied the old white male President. But it seems likely to me that he knew a lot more about the insurrection plans than he has admitted to so far. Why did he not get in that car? Seems fishy to me.

Why did old white male Chuck Grassley slip up and say he was going to be subbing for Pence at the certifications. Too many coincidences.

Trump’s backers are still with him. They are pretty much admitting that his crimes don’t matter to them. They would sign on with the mob if the mob would keep America’s demographic from shifting to letting other races raise themselves up to their rightful level in the systems that decide our democracy’s priorities.

These are the same sycophants who claim to be second amendment geniuses who would sacrifice our school children to a misconception that the constitution doesn’t allow meaningful regulation of their right to bear arms; even though they accept regulation of machine guns, hand grenades and stinger missiles. There is no reason semi-automatic weapons of war cannot rightfully fit in that same category. If the second amendment truly protects their right to own military weapons, they should be verbally leading the charge to allow their old, white male neighbors to have their own nuclear weapon as well. It’s just stupid.

The world is upside down right now. Thank god we have a president whose heart and head is in the right place even if he is past the time when he was better able to verbalize it. I believe President Biden is a kind man (granted an old white male) who is doing the best he can in the face of Republican filibustrionic obstruction. I believe he should not run again either in favor of a younger more dynamic Democratic candidate.

As America burns the old, white male dominated Republicans obstruct Congress from addressing climate change. The midterms will likely empower them more and they will continue to betray their children and grandchildren in favor of a glass of wine, a cigar and a big donation from corporate lobbyists.

I am voting for Progressive women whenever possible. Good strong women offer our only hope for a future that is not aflame from testosterone. It’s time for my demographic to step aside.
