As the World Burns, Manchin is Lighting Matches [1]

Manchin isn't the only one, but he's the face history will remember. He's betting he'll be long gone before it gets worse. You're wrong Joe.

With all the hoopla around the J6 committee it’s sometimes hard to remember there’s a whole other world out there. And that world is burning. In many cases literally. Wild fires in Europe. Record high temperatures in the UK. And people like Joe Manchin could give a rat’s ass about them.

Granted all the world’s woes aren’t directly caused by Manchin, but he’s in a position to help. Manchin has made it clear, by his actions, he puts personal power and family profits ahead of doing anything to help the planet.

Some will point out the the GOP and Mitch McConnell deserve equal blame. I don’t disagree. But Manchin gives them cover, publicly with his words and procedurally with his votes or refusal to vote. We’ve witnessed time and time again Manchin claiming to negotiate, but he’s never an honest negotiator. Like Susan Collins he negotiates while the cameras are on him or whatever legislation/bill is being discussed, but when the media and the public’s attention is distracted he blows it up and blames those with whom he is not really negotiating. Even when he gets everything he wants, he blows it up.

My solution is simple. STOP! Stop talking to him. Stop listening to him. Stop giving him an opportunity to pontificate in front of a camera. Stop giving members of the media a chance to portray this as anything other than a game. It’s not a competition.



People are dying because of greed. Greed for power. Greed for profit. And let’s not forget greed for ratings and headlines. (We have members of the media who have a crisis addiction. I’m sorry, this squirrel just popped up.)

Joe Manchin. For now, let’s just focus on his culpability in what we’re witnessing. There will be time to focus on others later. (Maybe.)
