I’m just as furious with Joe Manchin as everyone else here.
I’m appalled by the GOP Governor suing the Biden Administration for correctly telling hospitals that they aren’t allowed to let women die in their emergency rooms if they can avoid doing so.
I’m disgusted with the GOP Attorneys General who are lying about the 10-yr old rape victim & threatening to put her doctor in prison for doing her job.
I’m horrified by GOP legislatures banning abortion and pushing bills to prevent those who are pregnant from freely traveling for whatever reason they damned well choose.
I’m putting my anger into action.
As some of you may know, during the 2020 election cycle I originally hoped to raise $250,000 for Democratic candidates.
In the end, I raised over $6 MILLION for ~400 candidates up & down the ballot.
And I did it 100% online, 100% via ActBlue, 100% via posts on Twitter & here at Daily Kos.
This cycle I’m doing it again. I don’t expect to come close to $6 million this time for several reasons, but it’d be awesome if I could break at least half as much.
With that in mind:
The 18 links below make it easy to donate to one, two or dozens of Democratic candidates at the federal or state level in one shot!
Before I get to the links: There’s been a lot of debate among the grassroots about whether it’s better to follow Howard Dean’s “50 State Strategy” (ie, not ceding even the reddest territory to the GOP), in order to help build the Democratic infrastructure long term...or whether it’s wiser to focus purely on the so-called “winnable” Swing Seats only.
I take a middle approach:
STATEWIDE RACES:
At the state level, I’m pretty sure that most people who donate to political campaigns are aware that Democrats are extremely unlikely to win statewide in, say, Oklahoma or Wyoming. Anyone who chooses to chip in a few bucks to a candidate in those states knows what they’re doing.
Therefore, for statewide races, I try to list every GOP-held seat, even the extreme long shots. I emphasize the marquee races (Beasley, Ryan, etc) but I still list the lower-tier seats as well.
DISTRICT-LEVEL RACES:
For U.S. House and State Legislative races, it’s a different story. If you live in a different state (or even in a different part of the same state), most people likely will have only a vague idea about which district-level races are considered competitive or not...especially after redistricting. For instance, I live in Michigan’s HD-54...I guarantee that if you don’t live around here you have no way of knowing if that’s deep blue, light red or a tossup district.
For the U.S. House races, I’m listing the ~80 which are considered competitive (or potentially competitive) by Cook Political Report.
For the State Legislative races, with a few exceptions, all are considered competitive (or at least potentially competitive) by Dave’s Redistricting.
On all pages: By default your donation will be split evenly across all races (and orgs) listed, but you can also customize this by using the “Customize Amounts” options. Also, if you’re worried about being added to a bunch of email lists, there’s a pop-up screen which lets you opt out of having your contact info shared during the checkout process.
WITH THAT, LET’S GET INTO THE ACTUAL LINKS!
