If all states require liability insurance on one's vehicle, because that is the law. One's vehicle may cause damage and or deaths that someone is more often than not, held financially accountable.

I put forth that guns that cause damage or death must be held finanacially accountable. Liability insurance for guns ownership should be required. It is a simple way to reduce the violence.

Lack of insurance on one's vehicle means it stays home. Lack of insurance means the gun stays home, also.

I am not so naive that I believe it would stop mass shootings in schools by wackos. It does not matter their motivation or political, religous leanings. Slow it down, bit by bit until it becomes an anomali.

You cannot purchase a gun until you can show proof of insurance for the weapon in question.

I would not begin to say that I would set the price of gun insurance.

What if a .22 pistol, six shot, was priced at $25.00 a year?

What would an insurance company charge for bigger, automatic, 30 round clips?

What would they charge for a 12 guage shotgun? I mean that's for shooting quail and pheasants, well, and the occasionally bank robbery.

What insurance company would cover liability insurance for guns?

I'm not sure how to proceed, but the community at dailykos will be able to present something to the powers that be. However, I certainly hope that the idea of gun insurance finds a home.

Thank you for reading.
