..Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; Or close the wall up with our ...frog...??
It’s 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, I’ve just come back from a two-hour morning outing, and all I’ve got to show for it is a bullfrog? Well, maybe a tad pole more.
But what else I see is that there’s no Bucket up, so once more unto the breach! Dear Friends.
The Daily Bucket is a nature refuge. We amicably discuss animals, weather, climate, soil, plants, waters and note life’s patterns. We invite you to note what you are seeing around you in your own part of the world, and to share your observations in the comments below. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the phenological patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. To have the Daily Bucket in your Activity Stream, visit Backyard Science’s profile page and click on Follow.
First, dear friends, find the birdies!!
They do blend in, don’t they? If you need, ZOOM.
Here’s the one down in the lower right of the preceding photo. Evening Grosbeak.
This one is much easier:
American Robin, juvenile. Nice with all the spots still attached, eh?
The Grosbeak and Robin were what I got for a half hour of sitting out front of my apartment. But since it’s getting back to hawk season I went on out into American Valley. My walk is right along a creek and that’s where I snapped the frog in the title photo. Well, short story even shorter, not much this morning bird-wise on my walk, but wowser what a four-pointer:
California Mule Deer.
If it was a lady, I’d get in trouble for shouting “Hey! Nice rack!”
Usually shooting into the sun has no advantage, but this time the light creates a nice halo effect around the antlers.
ZOOM
With a “brother” three-pointer on the other side of the willow tree:
Lots of bunglebees this morning. Or at least that’s the buzz I heard.
Now It's Your Turn.
What have you noted happening in your area or travels? As usual post your observations as well as their general location in the comments.
Thank you.
