How to ensure I don't sign your petitions or donate funds to your organization [1]

Spam, spam, eggs and spam .
I do the things I can do. I sign petitions. I make phone calls. I carry signs. I email and tweet at elected officials and corporate sociopaths. I take direct action when I deem it appropriate.
I make monetary donations, on a first come first served basis. I get paid on the 3rd of the month. Funds available for donations are usually gone by the 5th or 6th.
I long ago gave up on email being a reliable way to communicate. (Yeah, I know. Email is so 20th-century … whatever.) Because I sign petitions, my inbox is swamped with 200-300 messages daily from progressive organizations wanting signatures and money. And, yeah, I get it: the needs are real. But guess what I do with 95 percent of those messages? I delete them. Whatever that email is costing an organization to send week after week is getting flushed down the toilet. I can’t possibly read and consider them all, day after day after day. I can’t. So I don’t.
Now the texts. I am noticing petitions generally changing from requesting my phone number to requiring it. I understand the requirement when the “target” of a petition requires a phone number. But simply collecting it along with my signature so I can be endlessly spammed with text messages on a tiny screen I can barely read anyway, said spam burying the texts from people I actually know and need to remain in touch with — NO. Just NO.
Which means you don’t get my signature on a petition if you require a phone number when the petition’s “target” doesn’t require it. And if you do use my phone number to text me, my reply will be “STOP.” Every time.
Maybe I’m just one person pissing in the wind here. In that case — “another county heard from” — you won’t miss my signature or my money. But maybe I’m not the only person being alienated by the messaging deluge. I really don’t know.
Said my piece. Thanks for reading.
