I’ve been doomscrolling a lot lately, aghast at the downfall of Roe vs. Wade and the sheer glee on the Republican side as they race to determine who can be the most cruel and vindictive to women. They’re taking victory laps. The bright side to this is supposed to be that they overreached. That dog caught the car, and voters are going to punish them in the midterms. That’s what we’re supposed to focus on.

Meanwhile, the Republicans are talking about the economy and about inflation. They believe their brand is that they’re the better party on the economy. This is how they’ll win the midterms. You know what? I’m sick and tired of hearing that because it is a big fat lie. You can argue about where it started, but Regan was the one who made it a promised. He promised that if we cut taxes on the rich it would all trickle down.

Regan did it. The Republicans have continued to do it. Has it trickled down? No. It’s gotten worse and worse. The rich and corporations pay almost nothing in taxes. Everyone else is seeing the American Dream getting farther and farther away. It was all a big lie. I’d really love to see Democratic candidates slam them for that. Has it trickled down? Is your life better now than it was twenty years ago? Are your children’s prospects better now than your prospects were when you were their age? Because mine sure aren’t. I think almost all Americans would agree. Give them a solution – tax the rich. Make clear that you’re only going to increase taxes on the top 1%. It’s not like nobody has said it on the Democratic side. Elizabeth Warren said it loudest, but others have said it as well. Nevertheless, in the midst of all the Republican screaming about the bad ‘Democratic’ economy, it needs to be said again. They need to be called on Roe vs. wad, but they need to be called out as the party of empty economic promises as well.

Do you feel the trickle? I do. You know what that is? That’s Wall Street pissing on Main Street.
