Where are we headed if 400 cops freeze at the site of an 18 year old with a big gun? [1]

At least they were well hydrated.
So this is the question I woke up with this morning. If 400 Texas cops are frozen in fear of an 18 year old with a big gun in Uvalde, what does that say to other violent criminals like Proud Boys and Oath Keepers?
Then I remembered something like the SS in Germany was not state police. They were the Nazi party’s “security” force. So I looked it up and found this article entitled What Was the Difference Between the Nazi SA and SS. It explains that the SA was the party’s paramilitary group created to intimidate the masses and “beef up” the party, while the SS was created to be Hitler’s personal bodyguards. Meanwhile the state sanctioned police were pretty much relegated to traffic stop status, totally incapable of dealing with the armed and violent paramilitary groups. Therefore, in essence, both the SA and the SS were above the law and could easily perform their function, which was to facilitate Hitler’s rise to power.
It’s already clear to that the GOP has designs on, or at a minimum fantasies of, turning the Proud Boys into their SA and the Oath Keepers into their SS. If 400 state sanctioned cops in Uvalde can’t stop an 18 year old kid, who’s to stop the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers from ensuring whichever MAGA goon they fall in love with wins?
We need prosecutions, lots and lots of them.
