Charlie with daughter Ashley.... it was a good day....
"ALS sucks," my wife of 43 years texted on her phone for the umpteenth time.
She has not had verbal communication in the last 6 or 7 months. I lost count. Charlie's complains of loss of feeling in her tongue and mouth. Charlie has been cleared to receive a language device that she can control with her eyes or a keyboard. I forget the time when she decided to go into wheelchair, I'm to tired to think about it.
She was diagnosed with ALS on September 27, 2021. Yea, the doctors thought that all Charlie's problems were from a stroke according to an MRI. Did a lot of testing and surgeries on her heart. Did a diary on KosAbilty.
Tonight, July 19, 2022, Charlie elected to go to hospice care. Our daughters and I were there. Charlie is tired of the pain from the frequent falls and the surgery implanting the feeding tube and the continuing degradation of her body.
We are glad to have had the celebration of the wedding vows ceremony in May; I never realized just how fast ALS moves. We thought we had more time together.
I feel so helpless...
