In the first round of the Conservative Party leadership votes among their MPs, one of the only two white male candidates has been eliminated. The only remaining white male candidate is Tom Tugendhat. Jeremy Hunt was eliminated as was the current Chancellor of the Exchequer Nadim Zahawi. The remaining candidates got the following votes:
Rishi Sunak - 88 votes
Penny Mordaunt - 67 votes
Liz Truss - 50 votes
Kemi Badenoch - 40 votes
Tom Tugendhat - 37 votes
Suella Braverman - 32 votes
The contest now goes to a second round tomorrow in which the candidate with the least votes will be eliminated. This process will continue until two are left. Those candidates will be voted on by the members of the Conservative party which are estimated to be between 100,000 to 200,000 people. (They do not publish numbers as it would be slightly embarrassing if it were found they had fewer than the Liberal Democrats._
