Democracy triumphs across time due to legal process, smart inquiry and debate, and Congressional oversight
Today, due to the seventh Congressional hearing on the assault of our Capital after Trump’s clear defeat, many modern Republicans, women, and global attendees had this shared historical moment.
Content for below: Back in 1895, Harpers published a book called Wealth Against the Commonwealth , reflecting on how the production of oil might prove such a boom that it could prove distracting from basic civics. Spindle Top’s black gold proved that boom in 1905 in Texas. That has proven impactfully true now globally, with the petrochemical treadmill finding us in this climate and capital constrained new world. Donald Trump and his authoritarian cronies embody the peak of this distraction to the point of treatening the conventions of our democracy. Yet here is the real story.
Wealth Against the Commonwealth: Why Trump is Dead in 2024
By Bruce Piasecki, author of Doing More with Less
Back in 1895, Harpers published a book called Wealth Against the Commonwealth , reflecting on how the production of oil might prove such a boom that it could prove distracting from basic civics. Spindle Top’s black gold proved that boom in 1905 in Texas. That has proven impactfully true now globally, with the petrochemical treadmill finding us in this climate and capital constrained new world. In history, the peak of this lack of civics was the storming the Capital after Trump’s defeat for reelection.
Those getting ready to vote against Donald Trump all realize he is a man of wealth designed against the commonwealth. He is a deceiver designed by others to make a few Americans better off. This is white supremacy at its worst. After watching the testimony and inquiry this day, I share this what is being under-reported in the mainstream press.
Those that currently oppose Trump’s attempts to regain momentum includes moderate Republicans, independents, and many women of all kind. This voting block against Trump is shared and cuts across the 50 measurable election maps. This nuance does not make good national or regional copy or TV news. This is a historic trend not based on partisan politics or even liberal thinking. That is why it matters to all Americans.
What follows explores who might still vote for Trump, and explains why that maters to civil society.
Setting the Stage:
If this was the opening scene to a Shakespearean masterpiece-- the central character, Trump, would appear like a MacBeth, surrounded by witches predicting his ascent in both the mid-term elections and his rerun for President. Think of Trump as Mr. MacBeth, and Rudy as sweating near the cauldron. You can picture the crowd, and their chatter.
You recall that MacBeth had a devious conspiring aid with him. In the fog of his ambition, the entire masterpiece enfolds, entrapping his wife, his friends, his allies, and of course, his many enemies. Each Act in MacBeth adds up, with more and more of the peripheral characters being isolated. What is significant in all social tragedies is that the losers/deceivers persist, until they cannot persist any longer. Here are some key trends:
The majority of Americans who will vote in 2024 now find Trump not electable.
The question has become: WHY does an eclectic swatch of nearly 30 percent of Americans still today think he is electable? What is the appeal considering the four fundamental points:
To sum up my take, the majority of voting Americans say:
He lacks humanity, and does not offer a Presidential mindset about growth and global competitiveness.
He lacks agility, never looking for ways to advance except thru lying and “the big bully” tactics of his career.
He lacks digital skills, leaving a sea of servants testifying before Georgia, Congress, TV.
He lacks commercial success, with a debt load worthy of any Shakespearean comedy.
Keep in mind all the current expense of dealing with Putin in Ukraine, and around Europe right now? Do you recall the callous support of Putin in Trump from his campaign to year three of his administration, and perhaps beyond?
We elect Presidents based on character, and standing. And yet “this Donald” thinks his followers will continue to follow him, erasing the historic fact that he is the big loser. This is hubris of a Shakespearean dimension. Here are the remaining questions before the mid-term elections:
A few power hungry supporters believe in subverting the majority process. But beyond this small tainted group of election fraud supporters, why would so many finance this madman ? We must face the facts. Several million smaller givers now are reinvesting in his efforts. They canvass for him, too.
You can think of this as either a con, or their anger longing to cast a protest vote. I have been watching the reactions from Financial Times of London, New York Times, to your venue and others.
Slowly, I trust, the great majority of Americans, thru evidence and gentle civic persuasion, with isolate that 30 percent to something like 20 or 18 percent of the voters by 2024. Meanwhile, starting about now, the mainstream Republicans are liberating some moderate Republican presidential candidates. Await that by 2023. Do not be distracted by the Trump mimics in Florida or elsewhere. They too will lose traction by election day.
What matters is the trail of Trump’s first term: worst in history. Reelection campaigns, even today, must be based on a prior record not just hot wind. This part of presidential history is consistent. The voter knows a good deal before voting for re-election. The same rules hold true for Joseph Bidden right now. My points are not partisan.
The Score is Clear, The Game for Trump is Over
The open democratic world global market is cleansing, forceful, swift. All but a few of the major donors to Trump’s first run have left funding him. Witness the departure of another liar, Boris as Prime Minister of England. Good bye, Boris.
Eventually, the losers lose. More frugal, thoughtful, civil people usually win, compounding social value thru the complex of tradeoffs known as politics. This is what makes good moderate Republicans, and even reliable evidence voting conservatives. Of course on July 2, the New York Times reports that Trump is considering announcing an early bid for his 2024 election. This too was expected, like act four, in MacBeth. Human drama is full of such foolish decisions of those rich with a surplus of ego. We as outsiders can see the end coming before it arrives!
Think again of what is lasting in the language of our Declaration this extended July.
Think again of what our past presidents “actually said” from Abe Lincoln to Barrack Obama. “When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands that have connected them to another……” Well, it is time to jump off the Trump re-election run if you want to remain standing on solid ground, and support a civil society. A re-election campaign based on lies is like a mansion eroding into the oceanic spray on the beaches of the east or west coast.
The evidence trails of Donald Trump’s life is not sustainable as a form of federal politics. As the age of big oil fades into a cleaner more diverse energy and business future, so might the cult of anti-civic national politics.
Sustainability, a field I know something about, involves basic human and civil skills. The world is well oiled by social value, not just petroleum products. This new frugal competitive world view of valuing the near future requires sensible reliable leadership. Like in the game of federal politics, today involves a series of mean games, trade-offs between immediate gratification and social needs. This is a fast and furious global economy , a swift and severe world. Even popular Hollywood films now document this tectonic shift in world views.
All these recent news items suggest Trump is Dead by 2024. But we need to dig for these deeper trends beneath all the noise about the hearings, and the past wrongs. We need a more sustainable global leader in place our White House.
