When the world seems overwhelming, it's images like this that remind me nothing is THAT big when compared to the Universe

The past several weeks have felt overwhelming, for a variety of reasons. There’s a lot of stress coming at me from at least four directions, probably more but trying to decide that is stress in and of itself so let’s just say four. People I love are undergoing trials and tribulations that simply aren’t fair, and yet there’s nothing to do about them but get through it. The pandemic seems to have taken away my ability to People easily, and that makes me sad because I’m an extrovert. A shy one, but an extrovert nonetheless and I miss people. The news throws a variety of upsetting stories at us daily, and walking my now 80lb adolescent puppy a couple of miles every morning as he tries to visit every dog, person, blade of grass and bird/squirrel/piece of trash he sees for some reason is not as relaxing as it sounds.

And yet, when this photo burst into existence on every news and social media platform I am on, I had to stop and stare in wonder. From NASA:

Webb’s image covers a patch of sky approximately the size of a grain of sand held at arm’s length by someone on the ground – and reveals thousands of galaxies in a tiny sliver of vast universe

A. Grain. Of. Sand. Just imagine how many MORE galaxies there are, if this is an infinitesimal picture of the whole. NOTHING, literally nothing, stressing me out is important in the grand scheme of this. I think there’s a playlist of songs about stars, space travel and galaxies waiting for me as I ponder the great wide world outside our own. Here’s just a few to get the mood set, and as always, feel free to add your own favorite songs, or thoughts about the cosmos, in the comments.

Now ponder the Universe as you hop the fold and enjoy the weekend Tops!
