Part of the big woods

I have to pass through old growth woods to get to the small lake (or large pond) where I sit quietly and study nature. Being there is simple and serene. This song sums up the place perfectly.

A movement to my left and I froze in place. I lifted my camera and began filming.

Days old and waiting for mom.

Nose twitches and slight eye blinks let me know that it is alert and aware of me.

I continued down to the pond. I got a few photos while I was there.

There were Cattails that made no sound.

Skimmers were on the weed tips

Tiny tree frogs on the shore line

Dragonflies perch on the water reeds

As I waited for another creature to present itself, a doe walked quietly into the glen. She noticed me but didn’t’ seem alarmed (but certainly was alert). I could tell by her red and swollen udder that it was her fawn nestled on the crest of the hill. Here she is.

The time to head home arrived and I retraced my path. I spotted the fawn again. It had shifted to become less visible. I captured one more photo and a brief video.

I hope you have days of calm and quiet thoughts that some wonderful event interrupts for a lasting memory.
