It’s happening already. In Ohio, a 10-year-old rape survivor was denied an abortion because she was 3 days past the “six week” deadline. Fortunately, she was able to go to Indiana — but some states are already trying to come up with ways to make it illegal for pregnant people to go out of state.

A health care system in Kansas City stopped giving out Plan B to rape survivors — then resumed after a major backlash.

In Louisiana, doctors are fighting laws that could make it a felony to use an abortion to save a dying patient.

Lupus patients and others are struggling to get needed medication because it *could* cause an abortion — and they won’t take a woman’s word that she’s not pregnant:

x and like…i’m literally infertile now? so pls also explain why the actual fuck it matters if i am taking an “abortifacient” if i am incapable of conceiving a fucking fetus u goddamn mothering fucking murderous inbred ignoramuses — taylor. (@_trashville) July 2, 2022

At least 40 states have laws punishing behavior that can harm the fetus during pregnancy. In most cases the laws were pitched in terms of other people causing the harm (such as assault). In practice, they’re mostly used against the pregnant person (for instance, with substance abuse — including legal substances like alcohol).

In Wisconsin, a cashier can refuse to sell condoms because of his “faith:”

x We went to Hayward to get some groceries and a stop at @Walgreens because we had left Jess birth control at home. As Jess was checking out, cashier John told her he couldn’t sell her the condoms. “Oh I got them from over there.”

“We can, but I won’t because of my faith.” 1/x — Nate Pentz (@natepentz) July 3, 2022

Alabama is citing the Dobbs decision to re-up a previously overturned ban on gender-affirming health care for transgender people.

Anti-abortion groups are pushing for laws criminalizing even seeking or sharing information about abortion.

They were never going to stop with Roe. The far right is after contraception, after LGBT people, after anyone who doesn’t march in lockstep with them. They’re not going to stop, so neither can we.

As always, this diary is a group effort. Thanks to mettle fatigue, elenacarlena, and the WOW crew for links and discussion.
