Let's Pack The Court Like In 1870 [1]

It’s becoming more and more clear that allowing just nine people to control our destiny, like they think they can control our bodies, is not acceptable.

So I went looking for reasons that the current SCOTUS is set to nine people, and a learned a great deal here:

So if nine justices were proportional to the population of the US in 1870 (pop:38.9 million people), how many judges would we have proportionally, at today’s population (329.5 million people)?

Those judges, n, can be found from a simple ratio and proportion, like so:

9 judges / 38.9 million : n / 329.5 million.

Doing the algebra, that works out to 76.234 judges that must hold office now. To round up, let’s go for 77 judges so it’s odd.

So yes, court packing is indeed in order.
