AGAIN

It is not the first time nor will it be the last. From my book “JayWalkers Shouldn’t be Shot” published in 2015, seven years ago (available from Amazon);

8 white cops, 1 black homeless man, 46 bullets. A video has surfaced showing a homeless man being shot dead by eight police officers as he held a small penknife. 46 bullets were fired. Milton Hall, 49, has been described as “a community worker, and he was always there speaking out for those whom he considered the weak, for those who did not have the strength to speak for themselves,” according to the American Civil Liberties Union, which released the disturbing video. Given such seemingly clean credentials, it’s unfathomable to imagine such a person being shot over a dozen times for merely holding a pen knife at a safe distance from police officers. But that’s exactly what happened in July 2012 in Saginaw, Michigan, after Hall got into an argument with police following an alleged fight with a store clerk. The graphic video, taken by a bystander, shows Hall in a parking lot surrounded by eight police officers, all of whom have their weapons drawn and aimed at him. One of the officer’s orders Hall to drop his weapon. He refuses. After a period of about 10 seconds the officers open fire, with Hall appearing to be dead before he hit the ground. Of the 46 shots fired, Hall had been hit 14 times. As if that were not enough, the officers are seen in the video attempting to handcuff the mortally wounded man. One onlooker can be heard asking, “Why did they have to shoot him so many times?”

I was raised on a farm and in the fifties, we raised our own meat chickens and I saw my mother and father butcher a hundred for our winter meals. Our entire neighborhood arrived to help butcher a hog or calf hanging from a tree in our yard. Although I only went hunting a couple of times, it was a normal activity. I was not unfamiliar with the death of an animal, yet when I was in my thirties and began raising rabbits, when it came to butchering them, I found a certain amount of dread for taking that life.

Soldiers are taught to kill. They are given the justification and during war aim at the bodies of other men. Even if they don’t agree with all the reasons for a war, they still fight for self protection. I have read of many of these soldiers who upon returning will never speak of the events they participated in. Many suffer emotional wounds that they never recover from.

Once again;

AKRON, Ohio — Autopsy records confirm that an unarmed Akron man was struck dozens of times by a barrage of more than 90 shots fired by police officers following a chase early Monday morning. WKYC Studios

One source mentioned that it was like firecrackers for 6 seconds. I can’t imagine 8 officers emptying their guns in 6 seconds, but no matter, how do you continue firing at a living human, in the back no less, while it is falling in death? Did they continue to fire after the body lay gasping its last breath and even til the gun was empty at a dead body?

From my book;

We will never know what prompted such a display of anger and aggressive behavior, but according to the “Police Chief Magazine” , Anabolic Steroids (no longer on the web but from CBS)" A common side effect of steroid use is violent, aggressive behavior that can contribute to poor judgment and even police brutality, according to medical experts. Gene Sanders, a Spokane, Wash., police psychologist, estimates that up to 25 percent of all police officers in urban settings... https://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3745740&page=1 "...are a problem with maybe as many as 25% of police officers. This would sure explain a lot of the aggressive actions by police officers. I know we make jokes about the police officer and his weight gain due to eating donuts, but maybe it is the use of drugs causing the problem. It is not unusual to see a police officer with a stout neck rather than a double chin. At any rate, we don't need to have our police using drugs that have been outlawed by the major league football teams because of the aggressive behavior generated. As a former truck driver, if we had an accident, we would be administered a test for alcohol and then taken to a medical office, physically, for blood tests for other drugs. I would think that any officer who has had a physical interaction with a civilian should have the same tests. But as truck drivers, we were not let off the hook for testing after a accident. Originally we had to pass a yearly test and later on, this test became random. We never knew when we showed up for work if a test would be administered to us. The DOT wanted us checked before the possible chance of an accident. Police officers, at least in some areas must submit to drug tests and in some cases they may be random. But the test for Anabolic Steroids is not administered because of the extra costs .

But you only have to go to Dailykos.com (at http://ow.ly/U38oI ) for an article on the true costs, There is a list of recent settlements of police departments for civilians shot and killed.

I understand why a Black Person will run when confronted by an officer. It all begins as young as 3 or 4 for the Black Female as the most often expelled person from school. It never stops and by the time, if they have put up with all the s##t a person of color puts up with, if they graduate, fear of a white officer will have been instilled within them. Just as it seems to be instilled within a white officer to empty his firearm on any whim of a reason on a black person.
