We are the silent majority now [1]

One Kossack speculated that we could be in the middle of a political realignment as the GOP and extreme SCOTUS overreach. Last week, I shared a link to a Politico article titled “The Dog that Caught the Car,” which speculated that the end of Roe was finally when the GOP and their court went too far. McConnell may be gloating about SCOTUS, but meanwhile, the public is angry.
And now the SCOTUS is agreeing to hear a case related to redistricting in North Carolina, which is scaring the shit out of everyone, and rightfully so.
Fifty-four years ago, Nixon campaigned for president by claiming to represent a the “silent majority.”
Today, that silent majority is us. The SCOTUS and the GOP represent a shrinking minority, hoping to hold on to whatever power they have, dreaming of some sort of permanent minority rule.
They are counting on the majority being silent.
The majority isn’t silent anymore as the SCOTUS decisions roll in. This is a court that doesn’t represent a majority. The court is shockingly out of step with majority opinion in this country.
That majority has been silent for too long. Maybe this is the summer when the majority is no longer silent. When they decide enough is enough and the backlash against the GQP finally begins in earnest.
After all, what does the GQP have to offer to make America better? Bans on critical race theory? Attacks on drag queens? Rulings against the EPA?
We are the majority. We should no longer be silent.
