Trump’s Lying “Limo” Post on Truth Social [1]

All kinds of contradictory information on the Internet about whether liars provide more details in an effort to sound convincingly truthful but the other side of the coin is that when people telling the truth are challenged or questioned as to whether they are telling the truth tend to provide more details.

Here’s what Trump posted. Bold emphasis mine. Source: Newsweek

Now that fake storyteller Cassidy Hutchinson has been totally discredited and marginalized for making up the most ridiculous ever story that I tried to commandeer control of a moving White House Limo, and even went for a choke hold on the other very strong Secret Service Agent sitting in the front seat, in addition to her other lies, the Unselect Committee is asking to interview the former White House counsel for dirt, even though that would set a terrible precedent for future Presidents. NO!," Trump wrote.

First of all he said limo. Now it’s understandable that Cassidy Hutchinson might have gotten that factoid wrong having heard it from Tom Ornato about Bob Engel who was a witness or victim if he was the recipient of the lunge toward his clavicles. But Trump was there he was in the Suburban not the “Beast” or limo. So, mess up #1.

Now based on what Ms, Hutchison testified to I was under the impression that Mr. Engel was seated behind the driver either with Trump or seated behind him. But Trump states/implies that Mr. Engel is in the front seat. Ornato’s story doesn’t state that Engel was driving so he must have been in the front passenger seat. Mess up #2. How do you lunge towards someone’s clavicles in the front seat unless they are fully turned in their seat or they are sitting next to Trump. See, more detail than necessary which makes a person want to ask more question based on this tidbit.

Tony described him as being irate. The president said something to the effect of I'm the f'ing president, take me up to the Capitol now, to which Bobby responded, sir, we have to go back to the West Wing. The president reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mr. Engel grabbed his arm, said, sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel. We're going back to the West Wing. We're not going to the Capitol. Mr. Trump then used his free hand to lunge towards Bobby Engel. And Mr. — when Mr. Ornato had recounted this story to me, he had motioned towards his clavicles.

So, it makes sense that if Trump is not in the front seat that he must be sitting in the second row of seats and that he could more likely reach the arm of the driver whose hands are on the wheel more likely than grab the wheel itself. And, regardless once he had his hand on the arm of the driver he had to have been leaning forward with at least his elbows past the front seat in order to grab the arm of the driver even more so if he actually grabbed the wheel. Doubtful. How would he get that fat belly over the seat yet alone the center console? More than likely he had a bicep hold on the driver rather than a forearm hold.

So, now looking at this more logically Trump was telling a truth in his lie. The only way he could use “his free hand to lunge towards Bobby Engel” is if Trump had his left hand on the driver’s right arm, and with his right hand lunged towards Mr. Engel. The only way to do that is if Mr. Engel was in the front passenger seat. You can’t twist your body holding on to the driver’s arm and simultaneously lunge towards someone seated right next to you.

Ms. Cassidy never testified where Engel was seated probably because Mr. Ornato didn’t tell her nor would it have been immediately relevant to that shocking story. But Trump provided this detail. Mess up #3. Remember that Mr. Engel is in the office behind a closed door with only Mr. Engel, Mr. Ornato, and Ms. Hutchison. At no time did Mr. Engel try to correct any misstatements and when you think of the gravity in the immediate retelling of the story second hand when the first person account’s actual “first person” is in the room it didn’t matter. Details like the “Beast” versus suburban are meaningless when everyone is still in shock from this event and other Jan 6 are ongoing events at the time.
