If we must refer to it, let's call it "Pravda Social" [1]

I was just reading an update on the January 6 Committee, and reference was made to some postings that Trump put on “Truth Social.” It makes me distinctly uncomfortable to read the word “truth” misused in that way, since the content of that web site resembles the pronouncements of Orwell’s fictional (??) “Ministry of Truth.” I.e. they have nothing to do with actual truth. In fact, since at least 2017 almost everything that Donald Trump has posted or tweeted has reminded me of old-time Soviet propaganda. You know, like the time that the Kremlin announced that it was complying with the “request” from the “freedom-loving” government of Hungary and would helpfully be sending Soviet troops to assist in the restoration of “peace” in 1956. It seemed not just snarky, but coldly accurate, to say that conservative pronouncements—especially from Fox Nation opinionators—sounded and still sound just like Pravda used to sound. And the well-established fact that the site, which promises not to censor anything, does actually censor comments that are factual but unpleasant (to the site controllers) just adds to the irony.
And then I saw a comment that made reference to “Pravda Social” and realized that this is a better name than “Truth Social,” since “pravda” is the Russian word for “truth.” Perfect. You just can’t get any snarkier than that. From now on, whenever it seems useful to refer to something that Trump or any Trump enabler has posted, the site should be referred to as “Pravda Social.”
